Atiku demands N500m, written apology from Buhari’s aide, Lauretta Onochie, for ‘tweeting lies’ about him

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections has demanded N500m and a written apology from an aide to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, for “spreading lies capable of damaging” his reputation.   In a letter addressed to Onochie and signed by Atiku’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the former Vice-President took issues with Onochie’s post on Twitter which states, ‘Atiku on UAE watch list- Security Sources.’   Atiku said he was never on any watch list and challenged Onochie to prove her allegation. He said he would sue Onochie for N2bn and cyber …

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the people of South-East rehion have lost their chance of securing the 2023 presidential slot after they vioted masively against the APC and President Buhari during the February 23rd Presidential election.   Amaechi said this in a fresh interview with The Sun. Court orders Kenya’s ex-president, Arap Moi to pay $10.05m fine for seizing 53 acres of land belonging to widow

A court in Kenya has ordered former President Daniel arap Moi to pay 1.06bn shillings ($10.5m; £8.2m) in compensation to a widow for illegally seizing her land.   President Moi transferred to himself 53 acres of land belonging to widow Susan Cheburet Chelugui, the judge ruled. The land was illegally grabbed 36 years ago but only transferred to Mr Moi’s name in 2007.   Chelugui’s husband Noah Chelugui was a local chief during Mr Moi’s rule. Nigerian Senate passes bill recognizing June 12 as ‘Democracy Day’

The Nigerian Senate has passed the Public Holiday Act Amendment Bill to recognise June 12 as the new Democracy Day.   The bill was passed almost one year after President Buhari announced that the date would replace May 29 for Nigerians to commemorate the return to the civilian government.
